Birlikte dekstrometorfan ile Celexa kullanılması önerilmez. Bu ilaçlar birleştirerek kalp hızı, ateş, aşırı terleme arttı, titreme ya da bulanık görme, kas spazmları veya sertlik, titreme, koordinasyon bozukluğu, mide krampı, bulantı, kusma, ishal ve titreme gibi konfüzyon kan basıncı, halüsinasyon, nöbet, aşırı değişiklikler gibi belirtiler içerebilir serotonin sendromu denilen nadir fakat ciddi bir hastalık riskini artırabilir. Ağır vakalarda, koma ve hatta ölüme neden olabilir. Genel olarak, en az 14 gün dekstrometorfan ile tedaviye başlamadan önce Celexa durdurduktan sonra beklemek gerekir. Tersine, son zamanlarda dekstrometorfan varsa ve şimdi duygu ile tedavi başlıyor, bir doktor veya eczacı ile uzun bazı ilaçlar vücudunuzdan temizlemek için bir süre alabilir gibi Celexa kullanmak için güvenli önce beklemesi gereken ne kadar görmek için kontrol etmelisiniz. Serotonin metabolizmasını engelleyerek KULLANILMAMALIDIR: (MAOI) monoamin oksidaz inhibitörleri gibi serotonin geri alım inhibitörü, 5-HT1 reseptör agonistleri, ergot alkoloidler, sildenafil, öksürük ve çoğu antidepresanlar gibi serotonerjik ajanlar farmakolojik aktivite güçlendirebilir. Sonuç beyinsapı 5-HT1A ve 2A reseptörleri hiperstimülasyon sonucu düşünülen nadir ancak ciddi ve potansiyel olarak ölümcül bir durum olan serotonin sendromu riski olabilir. Serotonin sendromu belirtileri sinirlilik, değişmiş bilinç, bilinç bulanıklığı, halüsinasyonlar ve koma; örneğin karın ağrısı, bulantı, kusma gibi taşikardi, hipertermi, terleme, titreme, kan basıncı kontrolü gibi otonomik disfonksiyon ve mydriasis; böyle hiperrefleksi, miyoklonus, titreme, katılık ve ataksi gibi nöromüsküler anormallikler; ve gastrointestinal belirtiler ve ishal gibi mental durum değişiklikleri olabilir.
